Fixed frequency beam‐steering using bow‐tie slot based dielectric filled waveguide antenna array

The paper presents a new practical design for 4 × 1 planar switched array of dielectric filled waveguide antennas loaded with bow-tie shaped slots operating at 26.5 to 29.5 GHz 5G millimetre-wave applications. is realized as three-layered architecture, the top layer behaving radiator, bottom feed network and control circuit; common ground plane in middle layer, offering small form factor. are used achieve suitable bandwidth stable gain ∼ 13 dBi. proposed (DFW) shown offer 5 deg/GHz freq.-controlled beam-sweep 70° fixed freq. beam-steer. With only three switching ICs, it offers low power consumption fast beam-steering. Further, combination beam-scanning fixed-freq. beam-steering allows wide coverage antenna.
